We have a private room which is used for parties (as well as classes, so it is often filled with inspiring items!). It has accommodated about 20 children but is more comfortable at about 14-16 max for adults. We simply ask for a minimum of 8 participants and that you use materials from doodlebug. There are endless possibilities for party activities and we would love to work with you to set up the perfect birthday party, wedding or baby shower, team-building event, family reunion, social group event or just a fun evening out with friends (and, yes, you can bring refreshments!).

The cost of a basic pottery painting party (with no “catering”) is based upon a $40 room fee (for two hours) and the cost of the items you select (we recommend that you select these in advance to ensure availability and to best manage your budget). A brief visit to the store in advance will allow you to choose from our large selection of items as well as to select a personal palette of painting colors for your special event. You’ll enjoy the help from a doodlebug staffer and we’ll glaze and fire your items for pick-up in 5 days.

Decoupage, wood or canvas painting and similar activities are priced to include a $40 room fee, the cost of the basic items to be “decorated” and a minimal supply charge for paint, glue, decorative items, etc. This supply charge (when applicable) is usually about $5 per child and will be established in advance. A staffer will be present to lead guests through the craft activity and to help answer any questions you may have. Everyone can take their project home and it can serve nicely as a party favor, if you so choose!

We can also arrange other parties, including activities such as clay play or wheel-throwing (ages 7+), knitting, sewing (design-your-own “ugly” doll is a favorite), glass-fusing and more. We will work with you to ensure that your event is not only a learning experience, but also a ton of fun.

We can provide a special cake, juice, cups, plates, napkins, forks and candles for your party if you choose. We simply charge an additional $7 per person. There are also any number of great restaurants in San Anselmo which have provided food for events at doodlebug (Chinese Chicken Salad from Comforts, Pizza from LoCoco’s and Sliders and Fries from Bubba’s are just a few of the more popular options).

We require a $50 deposit for parties, refundable no later than 10 days in advance of the event. Room availability tends to fill up quickly for the weekends so we recommend that you contact us as far in advance of your event as possible.

Our regular time “slots” on Saturday and Sunday are 10 – noon, 1-3 pm and 4-6 pm. We can also arrange parties during the week dependent upon space and staff availability.

Finally, we are working with Style Crème Anglaise to create fabulous Tea Parties and other special catered gatherings.
